St. Joseph's Children's Hospital, in Paterson, New Jersey, has long been
committed to making a healthy childhood a possibility for all children.
The team of highly skilled, compassionate health care professionals is
equipped to provide pediatric patients of all ages with the highest level
and quality of medical care possible.
Our team of medical professionals is prepared to treat complicated injuries
or common and uncommon expressions of congenital or chronic acquired illnesses,
enabling children to enjoy a normal childhood and prepare for adulthood.
Our healthcare team includes medical-surgical specialists the following
pediatric disciplines: adolescent medicine, allergy/immunology, anesthesiology,
asthma, cardiology, developmental pediatrics, endocrinology, feeding and
swallowing, gastroenterology, genetics, infectious disease, intensive,
neonatology, nephrology, neurosurgery, opthalmology, otolaryngology, pathology,
psychiatry, pulmonology, rheumatology, surgery and urology.
St. Joseph's Children's Hospital has extensive inpatient services with
a 38-bed pediatric unit, a 10-bed adolescent medicine unit, a neonatal
intensive care unit with 30 intensive care and 20 intermediate care beds,
and a 13-bed pediatric intensive care unit. The Pediatric Emergency Room
is equipped with separate pediatric diagnosis and treatment rooms, as
well as a helistop, enabling pediatric patients to be airlifted to or
from St. Joseph's Level II Trauma Center.
St. Joseph's Children's Hospital operates a fully equipped, around-the-clock
maternal/infant transport ambulance staffed by physicians and nurses to
bring premature infants and high-risk mothers from surrounding hospitals
to St. Joseph's Seton Perinatal Center. Newborns transferred to St. Joseph's
Children's Hospital can return their referring hospital to continue their
growth once they are stable. Our 24-hour transport is available for infants
and children up to 21 years of age. A physician and nurse team specially
trained in pediatric transport oversee the safe and efficient transfer
of young patients to our children's hospital. Attending physicians in
the neonatal and pediatric intensive units are available 24 hours a day
to provide telephone advice on the care of critically ill patients.
